First please make sure you have a Jira Cloud subscription. Then do the setup with below four steps:

  1. Install Jira add-on

  2. Install Office Word add-in

  3. Set Jira credentials in Word add-in

  4. Set Jira Issues to populate in Word add-in

Install the Jira add-on

Install the Jira Cloud add-on Easy Export in your Jira Cloud instance

Install Office Word add-in

From Word (Windows & Mac) install “Easy Export Jira Issues“ add-in from “Insert->get add-ins->store“

Set Jira credentials in Word add-in

To enable access to Jira Issues used for exporting Jira credentials must be be set in the Word add-on.

  • Company Jira Cloud base url - e.g. https://bojaprod.atlassian.net

  • User Jira login email address - e.g tom@mycompany.com)

  • Jira API token - please see below steps to create an API token.

How to create an API token

  1. In “settings” go to “account settings”

2. Go to “Security“

3. Go to “Create and manage API tokens“ and create a token. The API token can be shared between different users. Please note that in many companies only a Jira admin can create tokens.

Set Jira Issues to populate in Word add-in

Both individual Jira Issues as well as JQL statement can be set. The data of those issues are used populating the Word documents.
